Established in late 2025 by Clara Cortés, Herrera Gallery was born from the desire to create a space for the arts and contemporary artistic dialogue, rooted in a personal history and a passion for art passed down through generations.

The name Herrera pays tribute to Clara’s family lineage: her great-grandfather, Fernando Herrera, was a painter; the surname continued through her grandmother and mother, the latter having studied fine arts and worked as a painting teacher. The gallery honours this intergenerational artistic legacy, embodying a spirit of dedication, sensitivity, and curiosity.

The project emerged from the desire to open new platforms for artistic creation in a city increasingly shaped by gentrification and mass tourism, supporting in-depth research processes and prioritising the time required for artistic practice over the accelerated dynamics of the market.

Since its opening, the gallery has developed an active programme of exhibitions, presentations, and gatherings aimed at people within the creative sector.

Herrera defines itself as an inclusive platform that promotes interdisciplinary practices and fosters dialogue between emerging and established artists through a programme centred on the exchange of experiences within the city’s cultural fabric, always under a management model that prioritises intergenerational exchange, a culture of care, and a gender perspective.
