A pilgrimage is a pilgrimage, not a church. The internet is the internet, not a church. But the church is the destination for the pilgrimage, and the internet came after the church. So all roads lead to the church, my mom told me so.

When you go to church, you smell and you sit and you stand. You smell and you sit and you stand and everything else is emptiness.

This project ‘In the beginning, God created The Internet’ emerges from a desire to understand the in-betweenness of the massive and the minute. The church arises as a physical space where speculative fiction and the internet seem to be the only path through. The only path to experience the full overwhelm of melancholy, humour, aloneness, and grief. Physical location becomes somehow both omnipresent and obsolete. The work is a private installation on church grounds for the digital pilgrimage through audio, internet and image.
