Mourae (Lois Búa), Muxía, 1996, is an artist, sound designer and producer. They graduated in Fine Arts (UVigo) and hold a Master’s degree in Sound Art (UB).
Their artistic practice is situated between the ruins of a persisting past and the sprouts of a future that fails to emerge. Through DJing, drag and performance art, they explore the construction of subjectivities with an emphasis on Galician oral tradition and mythology. They revisit rural abandonment, touristification and gender roles through a queer and situated perspective. The voice, as a central axis, is modified and layered in order to connect the mechanical with the supernatural.
Their work seeks to promote political imagination against Capitalist Realism from a posthumanist perspective, while expanding Galician oral tradition beyond its preservation, using the Galician language as a tool of resistance.
They are currently a long-term resident at Hangar (Barcelona).
They are currently preparing Mitologias NPC (Dones d’Aigua) for Castell de Montjuïc as part of the Grec Festival Barcelona. In 2025 they released their EP MOURAE (Neurodungeon), presented at La Casa Encendida (Madrid), Fundació Miró (Barcelona), ESCORA danza (A Coruña), A Love Supreme (Barcelona) and Agrocuir (Lugo). They have performed at Galerias Municipais do Porto, Ars Santa Mònica (Barcelona), Normal (A Coruña) and CGAC (A Coruña). They have also created sound environments for choreographers such as Iver Zapata and Elvi Balboa, as well as the sound design for Nuevas Coordenadas by Bartlebooth publishing house.
