Mauro Llanas (Mexico, 2000) is a figurative painter whose work explores spirituality, identity, and memory through portraiture. He trained at the Prof. Rubén Herrera University of Fine Arts (Mexico) and later at the Barcelona Academy of Art, where he completed the program in half the usual time.
His work has received international recognition: he won First Place at the Prof. Rubén Herrera National Self-Portrait Biennial (2023) and received an Honorable Mention at the Almenara Art Prize (2024). He was selected for the MEAM Figurative Painting Biennial in 2023 and 2025, and has held solo exhibitions in Mexico, such as “How You See Yourself, How I Saw Myself” (2021) and “Memento Mori” (2022). He has also participated in group exhibitions in Germany and Barcelona. His work is part of private collections and religious institutions, including the Order of Minims in Rome.
He currently lives and works in Barcelona, developing a painting practice focused on portraiture and the construction of images that explore presence, vulnerability, and the spiritual dimension of the human figure.
