Marcel Rubio Juliana (1991, Barcelona) studied at the Escola d’Art i Superior de Disseny Pau Gargallo in Badalona and later obtained a Fine Arts degree from the University of Barcelona.
He works primarily with drawing and painting, with an approach that often comes close to the literary essay. His creative process is slow and is expressed in both large-scale formats and smaller pieces. Rubio has held solo exhibitions in venues such as the Fundació Joan Miró, Galeria Joan Prats, and Fundació Arranz-Bravo, and has participated in notable group exhibitions such as Swab Barcelona, Espais Volart, and the Museu d’Art Modern de Tarragona.
He has received recognitions such as the Art Nou Barcelona Prize (2020), was a resident at WestWerk (Leipzig), and served as editor-in-residence at A*DESK in July 2024 with the theme “The Symbol in the Pictorial Universe.” His work is part of the collection of the MACBA.
