Isabel Rabassa was born in Barquisimeto (Venezuela, 1992). In 2011, she began her studies at the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT) in New York, and simultaneously she also took courses at The School of Visual Arts (SVA), where she focused on oil painting, both abstract and figurative, and life drawing classes at both The Art Students League and Jeffrey K. Fisher Drawing Studio in Long Island. She has lived in Barcelona since 2015. Her work has been exhibited in art spaces and institutions in Venezuela, the United States, Germany, Austria, and Spain. A selection of where she has presented her exhibitions and performances includes the Municipal Museum of Barquisimeto, Yonkers Art Weekend (NY), Kultur HOF Linz (Austria), Art Week Berlin, Art Emergent Sabadell, WAC Poblenou, L’Estruch Fàbrica de Creació, and La Plataforma Gallery. In 2021, she was awarded the First Prize at the International Art Award Ciudad de Barcelona, granted by the Real Círculo Artístico. Her painting Recurrente was acquired for the institution’s collection. Since 2021, she has collaborated with artist María Cuéllar, forming the duo Cuéllar Rabassa; they are currently working on a project for the group exhibition “Artistes dones, relacions inèdites” at the Sabadell Art Museum, scheduled for spring 2027. Since 2025, she has co-directed the project at the el piset gallery.
