Isabel Rabassa (Barquisimeto, Venezuela, 1992) is a visual artist whose practice centers around oil painting as her primary medium to explore the intricacies of the human inner world and its connection to the collective unconscious. Currently based in Barcelona, Spain, Rabassa earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City. During her time in New York, she also studied at SVA (The School of Visual Arts), The Art Students League, and the Jeffrey K. Fisher drawing studio, delving into abstraction, figuration, and life drawing. Her work is marked by a sensory, abstract approach rich in archetypal symbolism. Through dynamic compositions and subtle mysticism, Isabele invites viewers to reflect on the boundaries of perception and expression in contemporary society, questioning what holds more value: what we express or how we perceive reality. In 2021, she was awarded First Prize at the International Art Award of the City of Barcelona, judged by a panel of leading figures from the art and curatorial world. Her work is part of collections such as that of the Royal Artistic Circle of Barcelona. Throughout her career, she has presented solo and group exhibitions in cultural spaces across Barcelona, New York, Berlin, Linz, and Venezuela, and has participated in various artist residencies and multidisciplinary performances. Her work continues to expand at the intersection of the visual, poetic, and performative, remaining committed to a deep exploration of the intimate, the collective, and the spiritual.
