Elio Jesús is a visual artist (Cuba, 1994) whose work addresses the fragility of human nature. Graduated from the Universidad de las Artes ISA, Havana, Cuba, he has exhibited in relevant cultural events such as the 13th Havana Biennial (Havana, 2019); the Arco Fair, IFEMA (Madrid, Spain, 2020) and the 17th edition of the Arte Laguna Prize (Venice, Italy, 2023). He has also held multiple solo and group exhibitions in America and Europe. Among the personal exhibitions are: “Otras formas de volver” (Other ways to return), Centro de Arte Tomás y Valdés (Madrid, Spain). Centro de Arte Tomás y Valiente, Madrid, 2022 and “Convicción imprudente”, La Nave Gallery, Havana, 2022. Group exhibitions include Cuba Revisited, Jonathan Ferrara Gallery, New Orleans, U.S.A., 2023; Genesis XX22l, Habana Gallery, Havana, Cuba, 2022; Artists from all the world, Artnumber 23 Gallery, Barcelona, Spain, 2022; Mail Art Project, Inglewood Center for Contemporary Art, Nashville, USA, 2020; I’m not suspicious, Nuno Sacramento Contemporary Art, Porto, Portugal 2020. He has also participated in artistic residencies such as INLAND Campo Adentro, Madrid, 2022; and has received awards and grants such as the NOEMI Award from the Brownstone Foundation, and the Fidelio Ponce de León Award.
